One Fine Day!

Before I get along with all the DIY-s, I can’t resist not sharing this with you guys! For those who know me, wedding fairs have always been my playground! Even if you’re just browsing around, the mix match of everything wedding is simply pure bliss. The gowns and the art and everything that makes a bride-to-be giddy! So when I found out about One Fine Day here in Sydney, it’s like a carnival dream for me…just to give you a sneak peek of wha really happened that day 🙂

Say Cheese…Cake!

Don’t have a sweet tooth? If you and your hubby-to-be love wine & cheese more than anything else then here’s a new alternative for your wedding cake: cheese cakes!

{Photo by KellyStephens}

It’s definitely different from the normal wedding cakes of frostings and ribbons that we’re used to. With cheese cakes or cheese towers, it’s usually decorated with fresh fruits and figs and maybe a few flowers to add elegance to it.

Just a bit of warning though, these cakes are really expensive! It’s great if you have the extra budget but maybe you can also try going to your local cheese shop and ask them which ones would be best to put on top of the other (y’know with the soft cheese and hard cheese, etc).

If you’re wondering where you can get them, you can try SayCheese or FarmgateCheese.

Oh, and don’t forget to serve wine! Cheers!

Creating your own Wedding Websites

Oh hello girlies! Before we start our first post for 2012, let me take a moment to greet you a Happy Happy New Year! I’m pretty sure each of you had your own way of welcoming the new resolutions and here at Ruffles&Bells we’re starting with a pinch of extra inspiration to kick off a good year.

If you’re having a destination wedding and you’re not quite sure how to send everyone updates regarding your venue or program, you’re best bet is creating you’re own wedsite. There’s a lot of choices available but it can be quite confusing going through every one of them (believe me :P) so I’m just going to introduce you to one –

It’s free & it’s in flash! So no doubt everything is going to look fabulously personalized!

Heck, we created our wedsite on wix as well. What do you think?

Tip: Have you’re friends take pictures of you so you can use it in your gallery and don’t forget to pick up free templates here & there to create the feel you’re guests can expect on your wedding day.

And so here’s a few links you can check for some freebies & downloads:

The Graphics Fairy

Nibble on that and I’ll continue to work on new stuff to share with you guys! See you soon!

Harry Potter’s Bill & Fleur Wedding

So I’m almost done with my Harry Potter marathon before catching the final movie this weekend and admittedly, I never paid attention to the details on Bill & Fleur’s wedding from part 1 of The Deathly Hallows. And apparently some of the details are quite inspiring!

Of course, the motif is purple with accents of copper. A typical color motif, I would assume, in the world of wizardry. I love the decor details!

Now, the dress is to die for! I love the contrast of the black phoenixes hugging her from the back to the decolletage with the layers of white organza ruffles. It speaks French just like Fleur!

I’d use this as inspiration for my wedding dress.  You?

Just a thought, do you think you’d ever go for a Harry Potter themed wedding? Hmmm.

With that, I’m going back to my marathon…see you in theaters this weekend!

*Note: There seems to be a trend going on for HP fanatics. Since it’s the last movie, just for the fun of it, wave your imaginary wand during rolling of the credits then say “Mischief Managed”! ^_^

Hong Kong: ‘I McDo’ Weddings

First of all, a happy 2011 to everyone! Hope all you lovelies are as excited as I am this new year.

Now, to start the year with something different…yes, you read it right! Due to public demand, Mcdonald’s Hong Kong will be offering wedding packages for any couple looking for a non-traditional way to tie-the-knot starting this January.

With your wedding venue being in a fast food joint, be sure to expect your wedding details to be very unique. The wedding party package includes a baked apple pie tower as your wedding cake, a wedding gown made out of twisted balloons, kiddie party favors, and of course, the catering will be all about the value meals. Traditions are gonna be a lot more different as well: wine toast = soda toast & cherry kiss = french fry kiss.

*The cherry kiss is a HK wedding tradition of eating one cherry together before locking on a kiss.

Apparently fries really does go with everything…even a wedding!
