Let’s Talk Cake

Lovely day to all of you, girlies! Yes, today we’re going to be talking about cake. You may like it grand or you may like it simple. No matter what size you want for your wedding cake, I’d just like to give you something to think about as I compare my cake experiences back in the Philippines and now here in Sydney.

Back home, most wedding cakes are at least 3 layers and in most cases, only the lowest layer is edible (especially if you have a fondant cake). For some reason, I always feel bad that there seems to be so much cake and yet you can only have one layer of it. If you know what I mean.

Anyhow, when we started emailing some possible cake suppliers here in Sydney, there was one question I was surprised to get: “For how many servings would you want your cake?”. Apparently, wedding cake is served as dessert here. You can serve it in two ways: as a dessert slice or as a coffee/tea slice.

The approximate dimensions of a dessert size portion is 2.5 x 5 x 9 cm.
The coffee size portion (finger type) is half of the dessert.

It’s definitely different from what I’ve been used to but it’s quite practical if you think about it. All your guests will get a taste of your wedding cake and there’s one less thing to worry about for your dessert table. So what do you think?

Shall we have cake?

Creating your own Wedding Websites

Oh hello girlies! Before we start our first post for 2012, let me take a moment to greet you a Happy Happy New Year! I’m pretty sure each of you had your own way of welcoming the new resolutions and here at Ruffles&Bells we’re starting with a pinch of extra inspiration to kick off a good year.

If you’re having a destination wedding and you’re not quite sure how to send everyone updates regarding your venue or program, you’re best bet is creating you’re own wedsite. There’s a lot of choices available but it can be quite confusing going through every one of them (believe me :P) so I’m just going to introduce you to one –

It’s free & it’s in flash! So no doubt everything is going to look fabulously personalized!

Heck, we created our wedsite on wix as well. What do you think?

Tip: Have you’re friends take pictures of you so you can use it in your gallery and don’t forget to pick up free templates here & there to create the feel you’re guests can expect on your wedding day.

And so here’s a few links you can check for some freebies & downloads:

Nibble on that and I’ll continue to work on new stuff to share with you guys! See you soon!

Pinning the Tone

Hi lovelies! How’s your week so far? I hope everything’s great! Mine’s a bit hectic now with all the preps but I’m totally loving it! And, of course I’d like to share all these excitement with you, so I’m thinking how great it would be to share with you my own experiences along the way. Agree?

Alright! Let’s get started! First thing’s first, decide on your motif/color board/theme (whichever you’d like to call it).

To those who know me well, having something to do with pink in our wedding is kind of a no-brainer but with dozens of tones and hues, it’s hard to trim down your choices to just 2-3 (And being a fickle-minded girl doesn’t help either). Good thing we were able to finalize ours quite easily! Yipee!

I haven’t had the time to create a mood board though so here’s a photo to sum up the mood.

What do you think? Pretty! It’s blush, grey, peach & nude. Subtle but when elegantly executed is just Perfect! 🙂

Speaking of photos,  if you’re the kind of person who saves every single photo that has something or might have something to do with your wedding, then you know the problem of either not remembering where you saved them or not being able to carry them around during suppliers meetings or the likes. Now, do I have a treat for you!

Everybody meet Pinterest!

This is an all-in-one multipurpose tool for me! And the reason is because you can keep everything you like for your wedding and categorize it to every single wedding categorization (i.e. attire, reception decor, ceremony, etc) you can think of. Soon enough, you’ll realize that you lean towards a certain taste and by then it’ll be easier to decide on all your decors, etc. I’ve also used this as a repository for my clients!

No more talk! Start pinning! Oh and here’s our wedding board just in case you’d like to check it out!

Note: You need an invitation to be able to have an account in Pinterest. Just post a message on their facebook page then wait for the invitation from their team.

Happy pinning everyone!
